THE CAUSE AND THE CONTRIBUTION

For the duration of this shirt's preorder from March 2021 through April 22 2021, 100% of sales went to Rainforest Trust and Amazon Watch (split equally).

Going forward, 15% of sales go to these wonderful causes.

Since 1988, Rainforest Trust has not wavered from its mission of preventing deforestation, preserving critical habitat and safeguarding endangered species. Rainforest Trust purchases and protects the most threatened tropical forests, saving endangered wildlife through partnerships and community engagement. Every action to protect rainforests has a lasting impact on the future by maintaining our planet’s critical ecosystems, aiding carbon sequestration and storage, and slowing climate change. To date, Rainforest Trust has protected more than 34 million acres and has the highest rating possible on Charity Navigator. You can learn more about them here.

Amazon Watch is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to protect the rainforest and advance the rights of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. They partner with Indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability, and the preservation of the Amazon's ecological systems. You can learn more about them here.

DETAILING

This rendition of the classic cabana shirt is digitally printed with "Willow Bough", a design released by William Morris in 1887. Antique brass half zip with lower patch pockets. Made of lightweight, organic terry cloth, this shirt doubles as a towel on a beach day.

WILLIAM MORRIS

In addition to his remarkable talents as a designer and poet, William Morris was also an early environmental crusader, which makes him an ideal subject for our 'Earth' capsule. In the second half of the 1800s, Morris witnessed the effects of the Industrial Revolution in England and became a leading advocate against the degradation of the natural world and oppression of working-class people by industrial capitalism.
